Physics Estimate: Could Captain America Survive a Punch From Red Hulk?

There’s no question about it. The upcoming Marvel movie (Captain American: Brave New World) has a scene where Red Hulk fights Cap. It’s in the trailer.

Of course, the whole movie is make-believe. That’s what makes it so much fun. However, that won’t stop me from using physics to estimate the magnitude of the impact force as Red Hulk sends Captain America recoiling. Let’s do it.

Here’s the part that I’m interested in.

I can get you up to speed on this Marvel stuff so that we can get to the physics.

• Red Hulk mad. Angry. Punch stuff (I don’t really know why he’s upset).
• Red Hulk punches Captain America. Note that this is the Falcon-Captain America so that he has the iconic shield AND his flying wings.
